Here are my quick updates:
It is 3:30 on Saturday and we have already had a full day. 8 and 10:30 a.m. appts and then to the hospital to get meds filled. Now the kids are having a lazy day playing and chasing eachother around the house! Robby has been a giggle box for the last two days (this is a good sign as it means he is recovering!) Madison is excited because I have booked her birthday party at the local Mcdonald's. I am happy she is happy, but I hate Mc'D's. The play areas are full of germs which means my kids then have to be sanitized to death when we get home. Thankfully Robby cannot really get too dirty as he cannot really play in the play area.
But then I think how much that sucks because I really wish he could enjoy being a normal kid for one day with his sister. I really wanted to book it at the brand new Mc'D's in our area which has a beautiful play area that is sanitized daily, but no luck. They don't do parties. So I choose the cleanest one that did :)
Yesterday my sister Stacie lost her 3 yr old cat Laser as the vet was performing surgery on him, so the kids and I have been very sad about this. He was such a cutie and was so young. She is so sad and that makes me more sad for her. He was her child. As her husband and her have no kids.
As for me, no shingles, just postherpetic neuralgia. This is the pain 1 in 5 people who have had shingles get. I figured it would affect me due to the neuro issues I already have, but I didn't realize it would hurt this much! Apparently the pain will return randomly throughout the rest of my life. They just upped my neurontin to help with the pain. They also finally started me on new antibiotics to hopefully help me get over this cold I have had for 6 weeks now.
My appointment with the Eye Dr. went ok. I need a new prescription in my right eye as I was currently 20/50. I couldn't even read the largest line on the screen! My corneas are thickening and the thicker they get the more vision loss I have. I think it is time for a new opinion since they can't tell me much. I will be searching for specialists in Philadelphia. As for now I am getting a new right lens in my glasses in March when it is covered by insurance. Thank goodness we are born with two eyes! Cataracts to this, what is next?!
Gotta run Maddy is getting that Easy Bake oven warmed up and ready to make some cakes (Yuck, many of you may remember how bad those things taste!)
New qoute I like:
To fear death is to misunderstand life.

Hi Cory - I found your blog because I have a google alert for postherpetic neuralgia and your blog came up! I hope that all goes well with the neurotonin and that the symptoms lapse quickly! If you ever need to talk about the meds or find that things are working out great - I would highly recommend google alerts - it is how I get all of the good info and I would be happy to share my links and all of the meds I have been through! I don't think it is super common with younger women like us but with the downed immune systems it comes on like a bugger... good luck!
