The weekend was awesome! The kids and I had a blast. It started on Friday night at the local Italian place that is more like extra family to me since I used to work for them. Their daughter was married today and it was a big celebration on Friday night as they were preparing for her big day! I also ran into a long lost friend there! Which made the night even better. I hadn't seen him in years!
On Saturday we had a play date with a newer family in the neighborhood. I love the mom, she is not catty like other moms and she is really down to earth. Both her husband and her are ministers at a new church in town. Really great kids too! I also cooked a semi big dinner for me and the kids and then we got to bed early! This was also the day that I had to really listen to Maddy's doctors and therapists. She definently has ADHD minus the H. There is no hyperactivity, just attention issues. They suggest a trial of medicine. I have been holding out on that issue. But they also told me it is like driving a car with a parking break on. You can do all the therapy but unless you have the medicine you won't really get anywhere. She is so beautiful and intelligent. I don't want to label her....but I do also know the truth. It is just one more hurdle!
Today we had church. We started going to a new church. It is the local UCC church in Fogelsville. I was raised UCC and my whole family is UCC so it was nice to take Maddy and the baby to a new church. It is actually the church Madison attends for Vacation Bible School and alot of family friends and most of our small town go to the church. It is a tiny church built on love and faith. The minister is a female and I think the world of her. She is so great and her sermons are the best. Maddy was excited becasue she got to read the bible in Sunday school and learned about Joseph and his amazing coat! She was also excited because she got to participate in communion for the first time. Robby enjoyed the nursery with the other little ones and they enjoyed him. He slept for an hour after church! He was worn out and needed to regain his energy for the rest of the day which was awesome. We spent the rest of the day playing and feeding the horses and then topped it off with perogies and chocolate milkshakes for dinner! Nonna always makes the best shakes! Oh and yes I almost forgot to tell you the best news! The tooth fairy is coming tonight because Maddy lost another tooth!
This week is crazy, a custody hearing on Monday and then I go for my muscle biopsy on Friday. I also had bad news about my eyes this past Friday. My left eye has developed a secondary cataract over my intraocular lenses which I have to have removed next Monday, three days after the muscle biopsy. My corneas are also working at only 75%. I have lost 25% of my vision in both eyes. They believe it is due to dryness in the eyes. So I am on lots of drops and I also had some little plugs inserted into my eyes to hold the drops in them better. Hopefully if we decrease the dryness then we can increase the vision in the corneas. I don't want to even think about what will happen if the corneas get worse. It won't be good. So again back to the good old hospital bed and more medicine!
I have to think of that line I wrote in here the other day. It is taken from a recent story one of my friends wrote at work.
"Life sometimes hands you sour grapes, please go and make the sweetest of wine out of all of this.”
Life is just crazy and I wouldn't want it any other way. My kids are beautiful and my life is good. Despite the medical issues for all of us!
