Angel Wings Granted

Grammy was granted her angel wings on Sunday, just a few minutes before 5 p.m.
We spent Wednesday and Thursday in Virginia with the family. Rob's family is huge (44 immediate family members minus 2).... the funeral procession was 15 cars long with a police escort and....... Grammy always made a statement and her last one was that the toll road in Virginia from Leesburg to Ashburn was shut down for her final trip to mass!

Rob and I were the first car in the procession behind the funeral director, Grammy was 3 cars behind us. Here's how that 25 minute drive went:

Cory "We have a police escort?!"
Rob "Yes Cory, there is a grand total of 42 of us in 15 cars, hence the escort!"
Cory "Oh My Gosh! We're going on a toll road!? We don't have any change!"
Rob "Don't worry, they don't make you pay for a funeral and the toll road is shut down just for grammy!"

Grammy you always had the ability to make me laugh and I laughed and smiled and thought this is just the way it should be for your final journey. This amazing family loved you more than words can say.

We made it home at 1 a.m. this morning. It was an exhausting two weeks for Rob and I am so sorry I did not get down to say goodbye before she passed. But I am glad Rob the kids and I could be there as a family together.
