Hello To All of Our Family and Friends

Hi all, we made it through Christmas!

First a big hello to anyone who is new to this blog! I did put this address in all of our christmas cards so I am expecting alot of hits to this site in the next few days!
This site is basically for an update on the kids and I. It is a place where I can meet other families going through the same thing and also a place where I can keep everyone up to date. I try to post here at least 3 times a week so check back often!
Sometimes this can be a good therapy session for me and sometimes what I write can be a little heavy but it is just what I need to get through some days.  On the side you can scroll down and read old blog archives and you can also post replies back to me at the bottom of the messeges.

I worked all of last week and this week so I have not really had time to enjoy at home, but I did have a wonderful Christmas witht the kids and the weekend was awesome too!

Christmas eve was a little rough and I thought for sure I would be making a trip to the ER with Robby. He would not stop crying, I think he is getting his molars because he is drooling like crazy and with his hands in his mouth. And OUCH, when I tried to get the oragel on his back teeth! He bites hard :)  I think it may also be his ears again because he is rubbing them like crazy all day not just when he is tired. So I will call Dr. Patton today for some advice.

Madison had an awesome holiday, Santa brought her an easy bake oven (I forgot how horrible the food tastes from those things!), a real acoustic Guitar, lots of games and a new barbie too! She loved her guitar the most. She also got a real microphone and amp for her to plug it into, from her uncle Dave and aunt Stacie! She has been down in the family room for the last 3 days doing standup comedy and singing with her guitar! She is so talented! She will also start guitar lessons in the next few weeks. I have to interview some places and see who is the best fit to teach Maddy.

Robby did not get so much for Christmas only because he truly does not understand nor grasp the concept of it. In all reality the only toys he can really play with are baby toys and then all he does is throw them anyway. So I actually only picked up a few big tonka cars that are made for infants and a couple of therapy balls. He enjoys throwing balls back and forth. My mom picked up a big chair massager that you connect to a chair and sit on while it massages your back. We put that on the floor and he really enjoyed laying on it. Because Robby is what they call a sensory child anything that stimulates his senses, whether it is vibrating or something he can teeth on or throw, is good for him.

It is hard for me to watch Maddy have so much fun and it is really hard to explain why Santa did not bring Robby as many toys or why Santa did not fill his stocking up as much as hers. It just hurts too much sometimes at the holidays because I am reminded of all the things he cannot do.

But then I am also reminded of my Christmas miracle too....because we are all thankful Robby is still here. Five years ago this little boy was not supposed to live until Christmas. Well did he proved them all wrong! :)
And this year the best present was that the doctors told Rob and I that they think he will live a long happy life. It will be filled with many challenges and he will never be "normal" but what is normal? Our everyday life is our normal and I couldn't imagine it any other way. It is our normal.

At the end of the weekend Madison enjoyed a birthday party at Bounce U and she really enjoyed going by herself! The little girls mom told me to just come back in two hours and Madison was so proud of herself because she got to go to a party without mommy and now she was a big girl. She said "I felt like an adult mommy!"  She is too cute!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and please check back with us often!

My kids asked why Hudson's stocking wasn't filled like their stockings...well, it's simple...Hudson can't eat all the chocolate and candy that filled the other stocking's...funny though, how they do notice!
Glad your holidays were good...have a great week!
