Intro to mommy

So a little about me. I am a 29 yr old single mom of two. I was married once but the toll of a handicapp child and his lack of maturity became overwhelming. Today would have been our 6th wedding anniversary, now I just find it a good day to spend precious time with the two best things that came from that failed relationship.

I grew up in Allentown, yes the city that Billy Joel made famous. I moved to Fogelsville in 1991 graduated from Parkland high school in 1998. I went to college at Temple U in the fall of 98. I found myself back home a year later and decided to go to Allentown Business school. I then found out my father had a cancerous brain tumor in Jan 01. By July of 01 my dad was gone. Rob and I had been dating for 1 1/2 yrs already and by Jan 02 we had Madison and I finished business school. Rob and I were married in 03 and Robby was born in 04. I wasn't satisfied though in regards to my bachelors degree that I basically dropped when I left TU. So I found myself going back to school parttime at Cedar Crest College and working fulltime at Lehigh Valley Hospital, all while rasing a very sick newborn and a 3 yr old. That's really it about me. Rob and I split up in May of 08 and from there I have found myself enjoying life more now than ever. I don't regret any choices I made because they have all shaped me and made me a stronger person.

Currently I am going through an extensive Mito workup to see if I have the same disease my son suffers from. I will have a muscle biopsy on Oct. 8th. Hopefully it will give our family some answers and even some closure to why this had to happen to such a special little boy.

Maddy now attends Parkland Elem. while Robby goes to Easter Seals. It is nice to be home. I am glad Maddy can go to a great school district and look forward to baby Robby going there next year. We spent this past Friday at the first Parkland home football game and it felt good to be back in my small hometown.

There are many more things about me but I will save them for later. Robby is sleeping on my shoulder and I must get to bed. We go to Shriners in the morning for an orthopedic evaluation. This is National Mitchondrial Disease week. so please check out http://www.umdf.org/ and learn more about this terrible invisible disease my son suffers from.
